Climate Change Capital Private Equity buys Climate Energy

Climate Change Capital Private Equity ("CPE"), the €200million fund dedicated to clean technology, has supported the management in the buy-out of the energy efficiency services company Climate Energy Ltd for an undisclosed sum. Climate Energy advises home owners in the public and private sector on how to make buildings more energy efficient and on how to finance these initiatives. It also runs an advice centre to the general public. The Essex based company has been sold by its founder Richard Britton.
Alex Betts, a partner in CPE said, "We are delighted to support the management buy-out of this forward looking company and we are sure we can help Climate Energy grow as it continues its efforts to support long term UK targets for energy efficiency in housing stock. We also see opportunities for growth into complementary business areas."
Andrew Holmes, former General Manager of Climate Energy Ltd, has been appointed as the new Managing Director. "This investment is great news for us. It reinforces the strength of our business model and ensures our company and clients are well positioned to prosper from government led energy efficiency initiatives. The investment and experience of Climate Change Capital will further our ability and influence in the field of renewables, carbon reduction and energy efficiency, and offers significant opportunities for us and our partners." He stressed that the sale would not affect operations, staff or existing contractual obligations with suppliers, contractors and installers.
Climate Energy Ltd is CPE's fourth investment. The others are Sulfurcell, a German manufacturer of thin film solar PV modules, Renewable Zukunft, a Cambridgeshire based generator of electricity from organic materials and Power PLUS Communications, a German company at the forefront of providing broadband communications to catalyse the rollout of smart grid solutions.
