Climate Change Capital's Property team wins Sustainability Award

(LONDON - 02 April 2009) Climate Change Capital's property team won Property Week's Sustainability Award last night at a landmark event, organised by the magazine, for leading investors and developers in the real estate industry.
The team manages £50 million of equity for investment in commercial property with an emphasis on "retro-fitting" existing buildings. The team believe that a two-tier market will emerge with future-proofed energy efficient buildings likely to outperform obsolete buildings that run the risk of being downgraded in value.
Tim Mockett, managing director in Climate Change Capital's property team said, "We are delighted to win this special award which validates our investment strategy in what has been a difficult market and acknowledges the hard work of our team at CCC".
Esme Lowe, the fellow joint managing director said "The award reiterates the importance of investing in buildings with sustainability credentials to improve energy efficiency for occupants, reduce carbon emission for our environment and aim for attractive returns for our investors".
Last month CCC's property team completed their first purchase - a prime office and retail building in an excellent location overlooking the Cathedral in Birmingham's central business district.
Property Week's Sustainability Award is awarded to a building/project, developer, occupier or innovation that has championed the green agenda and has had a positive impact on the environment.
