GIB May Help Cut UK Reliance on Carbon Extractive Industries
Since the beginning of the year, the Green Investment Bank (GIB) Commission, an independent and non-partisan group of experts from finance, business and policy has been working to identify how the UK can unlock the private sector investment required to transition to a low carbon economy.
The Commission's report, which was published at the end of June, identifies major investment barriers and market failures that are constraining investment in the low carbon infrastructure and technologies we need to tackle climate change. As a result, the Commission's report makes recommendations for how a new Green Investment Bank (GIB) could work to address these problems and also sets out a credible plan for its rapid establishment...
