Climate Change Capital closes twin renewable energy VCTs with £22.3m
Climate Change Capital
has raised £22.3m (€32.2m) for its renewable energy-focused Ventus
2 and 3 venture capital trusts. Fundraising was launched in January
2006, with a ceiling of £30m.
Ventus 2 and 3 are structured as twin VCTs
and will invest identical amounts in companies that develop,
construct or operate renewable energy projects in the UK. They may
also invest alongside Ventus 1, which has £15m under
management.
Investment manager Steve Read said that 'while Ventus 1 targeted
only wind energy projects, the second and third funds would make a
broader range of investments'. The majority of deals will continue
to be made in the wind farms sector, but some of Ventus 2 and 3 may
also be invested in biomass, hydroelectric or landfill gas
projects.
