CCC Lands World Bank Carbon Man
Energy and carbon finance expert Ken Newcombe is joining Climate Change Capital, the independent specialist merchant bank, from the World Bank, as head of special situations for its carbon finance business.
"Private sector carbon financing is a clear demonstration of the long term viability of Kyoto and potentially the greatest source of capital for tackling climate change," he said.
From 2000, Mr Newcombe has grown and overseen the design and launch of eight carbon funds creating assets under management of $1bn (£568m). He also co-managed the development of the G8 investment framework for clean energy, energy efficiency and sustainable development arising from last year's Gleneagles G8 summit. The bank has over $150m under management for investing in low-carbon opportunities.
Ken Newcombe will chair the plenary session Carbon and Financial Markets in the long term, May 11th 2006 at Carbon Expo, Cologne.
