Asset Management

Founded in 2003, Climate Change Capital manages investment funds with commitments totalling US $1.5 billion, as of 31 December 2009. CCC funds invest in assets, companies and financial instruments that will help to realign our global economy to support a more sustainable environment. CCC's investment objective is to use the firm's edge in the marketplace to generate attractive returns for our clients, investors and shareholders - Creating Wealth Worth Having®

CCC focuses on the following asset classes:

Carbon Finance

Infrastructure contributes over 30% of global emissions and the next generation of infrastructure projects will have to be redesigned to account for the need for a lower carbon-emitting economy. The introduction of a carbon price and the global expansion of carbon trading is re-establishing the underlying economics of infrastructure. CCC understands these changing dynamics and invests globally in assets, projects and companies that develop and hold infrastructure that profitably supports a sustainable environment.

Private Equity

The pressures of climate change have led to a burgeoning demand for technologies and services. Clean energy represents one subset of this market where $148 billion was invested in 2007, a 60% increase over 2006 levels. CCC invests in proven technologies and business models, providing growth capital and strategic support to help companies achieve expansion and profitability.

Property

As corporations become aware of their carbon emission footprint, they quickly learn that their property is the main contributor. Yet, less than 1% of commercial property is green compliant. The carbon characteristic of real estate will increasingly drive the value of commercial property and CCC sees a generational opportunity to build and refurbish commercial property to suit the demands of a low carbon economy, generating premium returns through more sustainable leases and higher purchase values.

Energy Infrastructure

The European Commission's 20-20-20 target - to reduce greenhouse-gas emissions, increase the share of renewables in the energy mix and cut energy waste, all by 20% by 2020 - highlights the need for governments and businesses to prioritise the construction of renewable infrastructure projects. CCC has extensive experience of working with utilities and developers in the industry to understand the policy drivers which underpin renewable energy infrastructure investments.
